Well….the transfer window is no closed until January, not many surprises on the Premier League merry-go-round this time with the exception of the goings on over at Eastlands.

So Man City are now potentially one of the richest clubs in the world eh?. Cue mad scenes of City fans celebrating like they had finally ended their long, long wait for silverware. Cries of “forget United we are now number 1″ rang out all around Britain’s biggest council house.

Let’s look at the facts shall we, yes it looks like City have had a great investor come in and buy the club, yes they somehow managed to convince Robiniho that he had more to gain by coming to City than making his desired move to Chelsea but in the cold light of day what has actually happened?

Investment is one thing, success is completely different. It took United a very long time to get to the position they are in now with some very nervy moments along the way. Yes Chelsea got a rapid turnaround in their fortunes after the arrival of Mr Abramovich but the have not been Champions for the last 2 years, nor have they managed to win the Champions League. All this was achieved with a much better squad than City currently have. Robiniho may well be a world class striker but only a day ago he publically stated his only desire was to leave Madrid and play for Chelsea, what has suddenly changed his mind and made him move to City where the chances of Champions League football are slim to say the least.

Only time will tell if City’s new owners will bring about the massive changes they are promising, one thing is for certain though….the pressure on Mark Hughes to deliver success has just been turned up by quite a few notches.

Well the footy season is finally back, seems like an age since United triumphed in Moscow. A lot has happened since May (apart from new arrivals at the club) and if Sundays match is anything to go on then we badly need a new recruit or two.

A lot has been made this summer about the possible arrival of Dimitar Berbatov from Tottenham and although I like the player and think he would do a job for the club, I would much rather see Karim Benzema at United. We saw what he could do last season when he shone against us in the Champions League and he is at an age where he can only improve.

With the current injury problems at United it is nice to see some of our younger players coming through but we still need to strengthen the squad if we are to retain the title this season as Chelski for one have moved on a step since last season.

After being successful in United’s ticket ballot for this years Champions League final, I am now faced with the harsh reality of having to watch it on TV at home. Not because of the price of the ticket but the fact that a flight to Moscow is currently more expensive than a seat on the Space Shuttle….surely UEFA need to hold off on naming the host country till later on in the competition, say the Quarter Final stage so that it can be made easier for fans to get to.
Most of the people I sit with at United have had to return their tickets as they just could not afford the £900 needed to get there.

It worked out at just under £4,500 for the 3 of us to fly there and back in the same day, not to mention the tickets and any food and drink etc. Now when you consider I pay £665 for my season ticket, £1,400 for one nights entertainment is pretty hard to justify.

Hopefully the lads will do the business and bring the Trophy back home to Manchester.

Well done to the boys on securing a 1oth Premier League crown yesterday. It’s been a great season with some really tense moments (including yesterday for a while) but finally we can all celebrate a fantastic achievment by Sir Alex and everyone at the club.

The Doctor returns….
Last night saw the return to our screens of Doctor Who series 4 or to us oldies season 30.
Episode one of this series entitled “Partners in crime” saw the return to the series of Donna Noble ably played by Catherine Tate.

After leaving the Doctor to travel on alone at the end of the Runaway Bride, Donna has spent most of her time searching for the Doctor, investigating one strange occurrence after another until she start to investigate strange goings on at Adipose Industries. Their she discovers the sinister Miss Foster (Sarah Lancashire) and is reunited with the Doctor (David Tennant).

A seemingly simple miracle fat cure pill turns out to be something far more other worldly with the discarded fat cells becoming “the Adipose”, alien children being looked after by intergalactic nanny Foster.

In main the episode was more of a re-introduction to the character of Donna but nonetheless was nicely handled, in particular the scene where Donna and the Doctor first get reacquainted via some smartly shot mime. The sudden reappearance of Rose Tyler (Billie Piper) was a brilliantly unexpected move, as I for one did not expect to see her till later in the series.

We now look forward to the continuing adventures of our favourite Timelord….
Welcome back Doctor, we missed you.

Blimey, was woken by the Earthquake at 1:00am this morning. My first thought was alien invasion as we don’t normally have earthquakes in merry ole England but yes it was definitely a tremor. Watching the news this morning, the epicentre was in Market Rasen which is only 15 miles away and it measured a whopping 5.2 on the Richter scale which for us is quite a biggy.
The only damage I can report is that my collection of Doctor Who figures all fell from their relevant positions on the shelf.

All figures safely accounted for and no damage to the TARDIS, sturdy ship that one.
