After reading mixed reviews from various sources, I was unsure what to expect from this the third offering of the franchise. At 168 minutes, many have described the film as too long but I disagree, the film moved along at a decent pace and I was never left feeling the film was too lenghthy as I had with Pirates 2.
They was maybe too many “who betrayed who” twists but apart from that I enjoyed the film a lot more the the previous installment.
The central cast were again very good as you would expect, dominated by the performance of Johnny Depp as the fantastic Captain Jack Sparrow.
With the return of Captain Barbossa played by Geoffrey Rush, was a bonus add to that Chow Yun Fat and a cameo from Keith Richards as Jack’s Dad and you had a really good group of actors.
The ending has been nicely left open just in case Disney wish to continue with the frachise and I would not bet against seeing Pirates 4 in two or three years time.
All in all a very enjoyable third chapter of the story and a must for people who may have been feeling slightly let down by Dead man’s Chest.
