Barton for UNITED?

After his transfer request yesterday, rumours are abound that Joey "THE CIGAR" Barton is set too shock the footballing world with a move to UNITED. Sources close to Barton have revealed nothing, apparently too scared of retaliation at the next Christmas party....
I can't really see this transfer happening as although UNITED do need to bolster their depleted midfield ranks, Barton does not look like the sort of player who would wish to join them.
After CITY standing by him through his various off the field escapades, it shows a distinct lack of respect for the player to put in a transfer request.
We will see....

AVALANCHE downed by RED WINGS

Robert Lang scored late in the second period and the Detroit Red Wings killed two 5-on-3 disadvantages on the way ro a 4-3 win over the Avalanche on Saturday afternoon. After losing their 8 game unbeaten streak to the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday night, the Avs lost their 5 game home unbeaten run, which was the longest in the franchises history since the close of the 2002-03 season.

A-HA on Colin & Edith Show....

Funny moment of the day....
Whilst driving back from Newbury with Ryan, we were listening to the Colin & Edith show on Radio 1. Special guest's on the show were none other than 80's pop legends A-ha. Well after a bit of a live session on Colin's keyboard, it was remarked upon that there had been a bit of a bum note played during the song, to which Colin remarked that everybody that had come in and used said keyboard had all made a mistake of some kind, most noticeably Paul McCartney, who as Colin put it had "used the F word" after his mistake, to which Morten replied " what, as in fuck?". There then followed the usual embarassed apologies from both Colin and Edith....
PRICELESS!!

Alex Tanguay scored with 45.8 seconds left in overtime, helping Colorado spoil Peter Forsberg's first game against his former team in the Avalanche's 4-3 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday.

Steve Bennett - more cards than Clinton's?

Referee Steve Bennett added to his collection of cards today with a RED CARD for Cristiano Ronaldo. Now I'm not saying that the challenge in today's derby match should have gone unpunished, but surely a YELLOW would have surficed.
This is not the first time Steve Bennett has made a dubious decision this season (see link above) and surely now is the time for him to leave refereeing behind in favour of a more appropriate career in the greeting card industry.

Just for the record, I believe City did deserve to win the match overall as United never really got into any sort of rhythm. Once again the only winners from today's game were Chelski.

What goes around, comes around....

Last night saw the second episode of "My name is Earl" on Channel 4. This show is shaping up to be a sure fire winner with it's rather irreverent style. The concept of someone trying to make up for all the bad thing's he has done in his life is genius and something most people can relate to, although maybe not to the same degree as the title character. Click on the link @ the top to visit the Channel 4 micro site.

Derby Day!

Well, it's derby day again and as you may have guessed, my loyalties lie on the RED side of Manchester.

Hopefully this game will be better than the terrible performance we all witnessed @ Old Trafford back in September. Anyway, kick-off is in less than three hours so i'd better crack on i'll miss the game....

Ferguson and the Glazer's....

Sir Alex Ferguson says he is delighted with the impact the Glazer family have made on the club since becoming the new owners. Well if you count getting United into potentially massive debt as impact, then yes they certainly have.
After the initial protests it seems that the fuss has pretty much died down in the media and for the average "United fan" on the street, unfortunately we still have owners who at best know very little about football in general, let alone United, and even with the money spent on our latest recruits, we are still some way short of a title winning squad but a lot closer to being bankrupt.

Avs beat Canadiens for sixth straight win....

The Colorado Avalanche beat the Montreal Canadiens 2-1 on Wednesday night to notch up their sixth straight win in the NHL.
Goals from Marek Svatos and Ian Laperriere capped off a fine third period comback by the Avalanche, who had earlier fallen behind to a second period goal from Craig Rivet.

Sony NW-A1000 Mp3 Walkman

I know these have been out for a while but I got one for Christmas and after two weeks exstensive testing (falling asleep with it still in my ears @ night) I can honestly say that this is the business.

In a world where people have gone " I-Pod mad" it's nice to see a player that does everything it should and a whole lot more.
Now that sony have released a firmware upgrade for the player, it to can now play the WMA format that was sadly missing on it's debut.

For a full specification go to the Sony Website or click on the link above the picture.

LOST Season Finale....

Well, it would seem that most of the country (including my girlfriend) are currently watching the season finale of LOST on Channel 4!
Having never seen an episode myself, I will have to miss out on this momentus occasion.

Hopefully there will be a gap between this and the start of season two, which will enable me to catch up with everyone else....

United v Blackburn

Just finished watching the
first leg of the Carling cup semi final against Blackburn and
all in all I have to say I'm pretty happy with the result.

After a shaky start, United took the lead through Louis Saha
and probably just about shaded the match overall. Unfortunately, a superb equaliser from Blackburn's Morten Gamst Pedersen means the tie is finely poised for the second leg at Old Trafford in two weeks time.
