Mr Irwin died today after being pierced by a stingray barb while filming a documentary off north Queensland.
Steve was famous for his handling of some of the worlds most dangerous species of animals.
ironically, the stingray is not known for attacking humans.
His television series inspired millions of people all over the world to not only appreciate and understand wildlife, but to become active in the conservation movement.
His enthusiasm for wildlife was contagious and his death is truly a tragedy.
The thoughts of animal lovers everywhere will be with Mr Irwin’s wife Terri and his family.
