And so we march on to the Quarter finals of the World Cup and a meeting with Portugal, who as everyone remembers, knocked us out on route to the final of the 2004 European Championships. Thanks to some great decisions from the ref in their last 16 match (16 Yellow and 4 Red cards!!) Portugal will be deprived of at least two of their starting line up.
So how did we rate against Ecuador?
Well, slightly better than the previous matches but again not really up to the standards we can reach.
As I have said throughout this tournament however, it is better to start of slow and hit form in the latter stages. We can beat Portugal, of that I have no doubt, but we will definately have to play a lot better than we have so far….
